For the MVP, there are tools for the data to be administered and have data access so that it can be exported and sent, initially it can be as simple as a share with the business owner, while next year there will be a release of the retail dashboard.
Once the retail dashboard is released, you can begin to sell the idea to the retailer, of them now having the tools to use the data, while allowing you to just collect it for resale.

If you sell post redemption, you'll need to work on the logistics of sending the hardware yourself.
Or if the new NFT holder likes that the DTM is in a satisfactory location (commercial, earning rewards), they can leave it where it is.
Before selling post redemption, make sure the hardware and NFT can have transferred ownership together. Not recommended unless you really trust the seller.

Constellation acts as a middleman between partner companies such as Foursquare and Snowflake. Constellation refines the raw data and creates data sets that can be purchased off of data marketplaces.
Not all data is equal. Some data will be more valuable than others.
Enterprise clients can also step forward and request certain data that they want from Constellation, for example, data on automotive dealerships, coffee shops, gyms (anywhere!).

A Datapreneur is a DTM owner that chooses to find locations that have a 'bounty' on them.
A 'bounty' is a request by a third party, for example, a hedge fund that has required data on coffee shops.
That request is sent to Constellation via one of Constellations partners eg. Snowflake.
This bounty is paid at a premium, so the Datapreneur that manages to place a DTM/'s in a coffee shop location and acquire the data will receive extra DAG rewards.

For reiteration, the hardware will not change majorly. In the next two years the cellular version will be available and that will have to be purchased, but the majority of the upgrades will be happening on the software side.

What should have been said is that the 'system is in beta'
The hardware is good, but the system is in beta. So making sure there is no firmware bugs, making sure the server side is working, the app is working.

The way the sensor works is that it can determine when someone walks in and walks out, but will be more accurate in a certain direction.
As the DTM uses thermal, the weather conditions will have an impact on whether its more accurate to count in or out.
The DTMs algorithm can dynamically look at the local weather in the area and give you the most accurate direction to count visitors.
The Datapreneur can choose to use this feature or to count both directions of traffic (which will work better in an indoor environment).

It actually can see multiple people at the same time
A data set was created previously over the course of three years, a camera and thermal footage were both used.
People labelled the images and used them to train a neural net, which runs on the device.
By the end of the training and all that data, Dôr found out that the algorithm is actually more effective at tracking people than what humans can.
That is how the DTM gets its high accuracy
4 or 5 is the max it can track and if people are stationary in a queue, it will encounter issues.

Should I get a DTM or a 'full' DAG shard/node?

This is really based on your individual situation.

A few points to consider:

A full node is currently more expensive than a DTM. As of writing the Softnode outputs around 4,300 DAG while the DTM outputs around 160 - 180 DAG a day on average, which is 4,800 - 5,400 in a 30 day month.
Softnode staking is subject to change to operational Nodes so the rewards are subject to change depending on uptime and other factors.
DTM owners are growing in numbers and that means more owners receiving a share of the rewards pool. More owners means the pool is shared out to a greater number of people.
Exact numbers of what a Node/ Shard will generate once fully assigned to a state channel and what a DTM placed in a retail store will generate from data sales is still unknown.
Final Note: The DTM is currently a lot cheaper, but the markets are very volatile at the moment and no one knows which of the future earnings of each either a Node/Shard or a DTM will be higher. It more depends on which one can you afford and which one is right for you as a DTM will take some leg work to be placed in its optimal earning location of a retail/ commercial location.

Once purchased you will be sent your NFT once minted.

State Channels are companies built on the Hypergraph. They need to pay to pass any data through the Hypergraph by either market buying DAG per transaction or by paying Node Operators to transact their data for them. State Channels offer Node Operators Rewards from their own token or any other token they decide to reward with (possibly multiple token types). State Channels will want to ensure they are rewarding well to convince Node Operators to provide the service from their Node.

Using this method to pay for the Hypergraph allows companies to have a logical way to implement a cryptocurrency into their business structure. Without the need to worry about inflating unpredictable gas fees. The Hypergraph is also able to handle many transactions all at once, unlike blockchains that are easily bottlenecked.

If you have 250k dag, you just need to wait until further instructions are provided. As stated in the tokenomics, the whitelist has been dropped for node 2.0 and anyone with the requisite amount of dag will be able to run a node. Apart from the cost of running a vps, you don't need to "purchase" a node.
