The number of nodes required for a state channel is effectively up to a state channel and could fluctuate as a company's bandwidth needs increase or decrease.  Some of this was covered in HyperGraph Hour #23 if you want to find it on YouTube.

We will learn more about node deployment procedures once we land in Q3 where they let us enter the Hypercube portal for node launch.
